This
project involved the design and development of an automated
EEPROM Programmer. The programmer design was based on a MicroChip PIC
mircoprocessor and the embedded software was written in C. We were
responsible for all of the custom hardware and software development,
testing, validation, and documentation needed to meet FDA
requirements for an external medical device.
The programmer requirements included programming and verification
of up to 6 EEPROM devices in less then 1 Second, in order to meet the
overall goal of 150 programmed parts per minute. The programmer board
was also required to interface with a PLC automated machine for program
initiation and error reporting.
Forbes Miel, Inc worked in conjunction with a factory automation
company to
design and
build this machine.
Custom Automation, Inc. designed and built the mechanical system and
PLC logic while Forbes Miel, Inc. developed the custom electronics
circuit board and software and completed the FDA documention and
validation for the software and hardware.
